The Power of Volunteers

April has been a busy month for us at Virtually Home. We had two amazing fundraising events, both organized by two wonderful volunteers. The first was our Rock for Rescue held at The Store on April 14, and featured music from Catfish & The Dogstars as well as Shannon Richardson of the Shannon Richardson Band. We hope Rock for Rescue will be an annual event, everyone had such a wonderful time and we can thank Candace, a staff member at our Mid North Animal Hospital where we take all the Virtually Home cats, for organizing this fabulous event!

The following weekend, April 22, we had our second used book sale of the year. This time we were at Rewster's Cafe in Logan Square. We sold a number of books and had a great day talking to members of the community about Virtually Home. Amber, a long time volunteer and supporter of Virtually Home, organized this event after dining at Rewster's and thinking what a great place it would be for a book sale! After approaching the manager about the possibility of a book sale she contacted Julie and Cindy,  who thought it would be a great idea!

We want to thank Candace and Amber for their dedication to Virtually Home! Neither of these events could have been held without them, in fact both were organized because these ladies took the initiative when they saw an opportunity to help out. Candace knew some of the musicians who played at Rock for Rescue, as well as the owner of The Store, she proposed an idea to them and they all loved it. From there it was just a matter of logistics. Candace and Amber had some great ideas and connections that helped us raise some much needed money and awareness of Virtually Home. If  you have any ideas for future fundraising events please let us know, we are always open to new ideas.

We also want to thank all of our foster parents who have stepped up to the plate this month. Whether you have taken in a new foster, or just continue to provide for the fosters you have, we want to say a heart felt Thank You. None of this would be possible without you--our dedicated volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering you can visit the "Volunteer" tab above, or click here for more information.
