Announcing Chicago Cat Rescue

We have exciting news to share with you!  After 6 years of active rescue in the city of Chicago and transforming the lives of animals and humans alike, Virtually Home is becoming Chicago Cat Rescue!  Effective June 5th!

Of course, with a new name comes a new look. Here’s a sneak peak of our logo ...
Our new name and logo reflects who we are, what we do and where we do it.  Pretty intuitive, huh?  That’s what we were hoping you’d say.  Operating as Chicago Cat Rescue gives us the opportunity to engage more like-minded individuals, broaden our network of foster homes and, ultimately find more permanent homes for the cats in our care.

Thank you for your continued support!

Why are we changing our name to Chicago Cat Rescue?
It so clearly aligns with what we have become known for and we were surprised to learn this name was still available.  While Virtually Home spoke to the utilization of the web as a platform for adoptions and our foster network, ultimately it proved to be too abstract on a broader level. Chicago Cat Rescue immediately resonated with our supporters when we presented a variety of options for names - so we ran with it!  Chicago Cat Rescue, being a more intuitive name, will help us expand our foster network, reach more adopters and secure more financial support.

Will Chicago Cat Rescue help other types of animals, or just cats?

Chicago Cat Rescue will never turn its back on an animal in need.  Over the past six years we have rescued several dogs, rabbits and even a few chickens (yes, that’s right, we said chickens).  Chicago Cat Rescue partners with other specialized rescue groups in Chicago to ensure all animals that come our way receive the care they need.

What’s next for Chicago Cat Rescue?

What’s next is you!  Chicago Cat Rescue will continue to rely on individuals in our community to help achieve our mission to help homeless cats in the city of Chicago. Chicago Cat Rescue will continue to build and expand our network of foster homes, raise awareness for issues and challenges that cats face, as well as raise the funds it takes to support the cats in our care.  We invite you to foster your inner rescue and join us in achieving our mission. There are many ways to help out. Check out our Volunteer page. If you have more ideas on how you'd like to help, we’re all ears!

Chicago is a big city, where are you located?

There is no one location for Chicago Cat Rescue. We are a network of foster homes, so we are located throughout Chicago, possibly even in your living room if you want to become a foster parent.  Foster homes are an ideal way for adopters to meet and mingle with our cats. A comfortable, home setting brings out the best in our cats and helps you gain a true sense of their personalities and temperaments.  All of our foster homes provide flexible schedules to accommodate appointments with potential adopters.

After the official launch on June 5th, how do we reach you?
Our email and website will redirect you to our new domain,  Our phone numbers and mailing address will remain the same.

Do you have any other questions? Leave them below, or shoot us an e-mail.

Foster Homes Needed!

Meet Nutmeg, Ravyn, and Arlo. These stunning cats are looking for foster homes. We pulled these stunning cats from a high kill facility and are looking to move them to foster homes until they are able to find their forever homes.  All three  are young adults and would make wonderful companions! Nutmeg and Arlo are young males, and Ravyn is a Sexy Black girl. They will make someone's family complete, but in the mean time they would like to have a little room to stretch their legs and to get out of the vet's office where they have been living for far too long.

As you may know Virtually Home is a network of foster homes, so we depend on the generousness to help us save more cats. Therefore, we are always looking for more foster homes so we can save more cats. We have no shelter to house the cats, all our cats stay at our vet's office until they are able to find a foster home, or are adopted.  Of course the vet's office is a much better option than the facility where they were, but it is still a cage.

Please help these three handsome boys stretch their legs and get out of cages until they are able to find their forever home. Fostering a rescued cat is one of the most rewarding things you can ever do, because you will truly be saving a life. Virtually Home provides all the medical care for our cats. Food and other supplies are provided as needed. Which means all you have to do is provide a safe place for your foster cat, and some belly rubs and playtime for a very grateful cat. What could be easier or more rewarding?

We understand that not everyone can foster, it's not for everyone. It is a rewarding experience though, and a great way to help out a cat in need. All you have to do is provide a home and some love for these beautiful boys until they find a forever home! Please consider opening your home to a foster cat.
